– 4 hr course (Ages 16 to 25)

 

Why Is This Important

 

Saving lives of young drivers (Motor vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for people in the 16-25 age group.)

Reducing financial costs to citizens/drivers and their families due to insurance points

Reducing court load Purpose

 

The purpose of the Alive at 25 program is to help young drivers choose safe driving practices, take responsibility for their behavior, and be aware of the typical driving hazards.

 

Training Focus

Helps participants recognize that their casual attitudes toward driving can cause collisions and violations, and encourages them to adopt safer approaches to driving. Emphasizes peer pressure and how to manage it.

Provides participants techniques to take control of their behavior and to keep control in driving situations.

 

Why Alive at 25?

Drivers under the age of 25 are four times more likely to be involved in a serious motor vehicle accident than older drivers. Research shows this is a result of one or a combination of the following factors:

Lack of awareness of the consequences of risk-taking behavior, Inexperience with the complexities of driving

Driving as a social activity, Peers in the vehicle with the young driver, Impaired driving, Speeding

Statistics show that a student that has taken Alive at 25 is 91% less likely to be involved in a fatal crash by their 25th birthday.

 

Eligibility: Drivers with citations between the ages 16-25.

Course: Alive at 25 is a 4-hour National Safety Council course taught in the classroom (no driving) by National Safety Council certified instructors.

 

Enrollment Information

After the District Attorney’s Office has agreed that you may attend the Alive @ 25 class, you must pre-register.
